The National Commission for Information Technology and Liberties (CNIL) blacklists the famous Google Analytics analysis tool for non-compliance in the processing of personal data (GDPR*).
Following numerous complaints lodged by its European counterparts in 2021, it is now the CNIL's turn to monitor the use of this data by the American giant.
The conclusion is clear: the transfer of Internet users' data between the European Union and the United States is considered to be poorly regulated and in breach of the GDPR. As a result, major French groups were given formal notice by the CNIL in February 2022 to comply.
Impact on your business
The use of Google Analytics without strict control of the data collected should be avoided. In addition, this tool can only collect information with the user's consent.
Yotech solutions
Yotech integrates Matomo into its Web solutions (Odoo, Wordpress), an alternative for analysing traffic on your website, approved by the CNIL. Matomo is a free and open source software created in 2007 (formerly Piwik).
Matomo VS Google Analytics
The essential point of Matomo is that the data is stored and processed by you alone - no more storage by a third-party service! What's more, the data can be anonymised, eliminating the need for users to give their consent, making your statistics more reliable.
"Claim 100% data ownership, respect user privacy, be reliable and encourage people to stay safe. Complete analyses, 100% owned by you": you have complete control over your platform, free to host data on the server of your choice and in the country where your company is domiciled, thus ensuring the confidentiality of your visitors.
When it comes to software, Matomo is also effective, both in terms of its intuitive, easy-to-use dashboard and the many features it offers to help you optimise your business.
As you can see, Matomo has nothing to envy from its competitor!
